Artist Statment

Tip-toeing on the line of too much. I investigate figurative abstraction through humor and the body’s reaction to what’s unexpected. My collection of work contains paintings and drawings of various mediums. I explore fun, playful scenes in my pieces, inspired by binge-watching trash TV shows, kitschy pop, and obvious cash-grab movies.

My color use is garish and messy. Fixing the mistakes is part of the fun. I apply my medium with haste, with no intentional mark making, thinking only of how to fill the space as quickly as possible. Same with my subject and composition.

I appreciate the simple things in life, such as colors and shapes. Rudimentary elements to induce childish interpretations of everyday life.
